-=- Welcome -=-
Welcome to GoellerJ's website. "Live From The Moon" was conceived in Feb 2004 as a result of the loss of the goellerj.com domain (horrible host, would not allow a transfer of the name). To those of you wondering about the name of this site, it was flashed across the bottom of TV screens across the world as Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins (Apollo 11) first landed on the moon on 16 July 1969.

So much has happened to me since the creation of this site in 2004. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, went to Boot Camp on 24 May 2004, and then to 29 Palms for Field Radio Operator School. Around Nov 2004, I checked in to my reserve unit, Fox 2/14 at OKC, and finished up my Masters in Aviation & Space Science at Oklahoma State University in the following spring semester. The thesis of my Masters was: The Space Program and the Historical and Future Impact On The Aviation Industry. Thus, my website "Live From The Moon" was born. The background is an actual panoramic photograph taken by Apollo 16 Commander John Young of Lunar Module Pilot Charlie Duke.

In June of 2005, I went to Marine Officer Candidate School and received my commission as a Marine Officer in August of 2005. Luckily before I went to OCS, I was able to sign a contract guaranteeing my slot at Naval Flight School. Before any Marine Officer goes off to their Military Occupation Specialty school, they have to attend The Basic School. The intent is to teach every officer the skills needed to be a Rifle Platoon Commander. Just as every Marine is a Rifleman, every Officer is a Rifle Platoon Commander. After learning as much as I could from the Marine Corps' finest officers, I graduated from The Basic School and went to Flight School in Pensacola, Fl. Flight School for Naval Flight Officers can take a year or more. I started as soon as I arrived in Pensacola and finished only 13 months later. I selected the EA-6B Prowler and will be headed to Whidbey Island, WA, for the Fleet Replacement Squadron (specific training in the Prowler) and then will be based at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. I have taken the liberty of posting many pictures of my Marine Career in the USMC portion of the site. I continuously update these as I take them.

In addition to getting my commission in August of 2005, I got married to the love of my life on 20 Aug 2005. We spent a great week in Virginia Beach, VA, on our honeymoon and then I had to report to TBS and carry on with my duties. I added a family partition to my website that you can visit to see various pictures of our life together. There is also a friends portion of the site to see pictures of our "family away from family."

In order to get ready for my military career, I joined Pershing Rifles at Oklahoma State University in the Fall '02. It is a prestigious national military fraternity that has a chapter at Oklahoma State and is very difficult to join. The pledgeship takes approximately 9 weeks and culminates with a weekend-long Field Training Exercise known as BlackJack. I've been continually amazed at how much the training I received with P/R has helped me at TBS and in the Marines. Check out the section on the site for more info on P/R and pictures of BlackJack and White Rose. (Classes 02-2 & 03-1)

I received my Private Pilot License in October of 2002. I aim to add some pictures of me in and around planes and also create a section of the site dedicated to my flying pursuits. In the meantime, I have several sections filled with knowledge that I've found helpful and interesting throughout my college career, so feel free to browse the new Space, Humor, & Workout sections of my site.

As always, Enjoy.
